What is Overture ?

Overture is (noun) 1. a short piece of music played at the beginning of an opera or a concert The orchestra played the over ture to ‘The Magic Flute’. 2. to make overtures to someone to try to begin negotiations with someone The socialists made overtures to the communists with the aim of forming a left-wing alliance.
