What is Fieldwork?

Fieldwork meaning an investigation or search for material, data, etc., made in the field as opposed to the classroom, the laboratory, or official headquarters. For example, the work archeologists perform at a dig site in the desert; the work historians or curators engage in when they find or collect artifacts for museums; and the work environmental technicians do when they collect water samples from a pond, a stream, or an ocean
