What is Orthods?

Orthods meaning in Soil Science terminology / glossary / dictionary is:
Spodosols that have less than six times as much free iron (elemental) than organic carbon in the spodic horizon but the ratio of iron to carbon is 0.2 or more. Orthods are not saturated with water for periods long enough to limit their use for most crops. (A suborder in the U.S. system of soil taxonomy.)
