What is Drain ?

Drain is (noun) 1. a pipe for carrying waste water away In the autumn the drains get blocked by leaves. We had to phone the council to come and clear the blocked drain. it’s just like pouring money down the drain it’s a waste of money (informal.) laugh 2. a gradual loss The office in Paris is a continual drain on our resources. (verb) 1. to remove a liquid Boil the potatoes for ten minutes, drain and leave to cool. 2. to drink all the liquid that is in something such as a cup or a glass He drained his glass and asked for some more.
